This partnership with COOCON enables SeoulPay integration and cross-border QR payment acceptance for participating mobile payment applications.
Liquid Group, a leading provider of interoperable QR payment connectivity across Asia Pacific, today announced a partnership with COOCON, a leading Korean fintech and payment infrastructure provider to expand cross-border QR payment connectivity through SeoulPay.
The collaboration connects SeoulPay to Liquid Group's RoamQR network, enabling users of participating mobile payment applications to make QR payments at participating SeoulPay merchants in Korea using their existing domestic payment apps, without requiring additional registration or setup.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in RoamQR's continued expansion across Asia, strengthening payment connectivity between Korea and key travel and trade corridors across the region. By enabling QR interoperability between participating payment ecosystems, the collaboration aims to deliver a more seamless payment experience for international visitors while supporting merchant acceptance of digital payments from overseas customers.
For merchants, the integration allows participating SeoulPay merchants to accept cross-border QR payments through their existing QR infrastructure without the need for separate foreign payment acceptance systems. This helps simplify payment acceptance while broadening access to international consumer spending.
South Korea is one of Asia's most digitally advanced payment markets and an important destination for regional tourism and commerce. The addition of SeoulPay to the RoamQR ecosystem further strengthens Liquid Group's vision of creating a connected QR payment network that enables consumers to pay abroad using familiar payment applications from their home markets.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment by Liquid Group and COOCON to strengthen interoperability between domestic and cross-border payment ecosystems, enabling greater convenience for consumers while supporting merchant participation in regional commerce.
"QR interoperability is transforming the way consumers and merchants participate in cross-border commerce," said Jeremy Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Group. "By connecting SeoulPay through our RoamQR network, we are extending seamless payment experiences to one of Asia's most important travel and trade corridors while helping merchants access growing international visitor spending. This partnership strengthens Korea's position within the growing regional QR ecosystem and supports our mission to make cross-border payments as simple and intuitive as domestic payments."
Kim Jong-hyun, Chief Executive Officer of COOCON, said, "This collaboration represents an important step in expanding COOCON's cross-border payment capabilities across Asia. Together with Liquid Group, we are creating stronger payment connectivity that benefits both international visitors and local merchants, while laying the foundation for future innovation in digital payments."
Liquid Group's RoamQR network connects digital wallets, mobile banking applications, acquirers and national QR payment schemes across Asia Pacific through a single interoperable framework. The network enables participating payment providers to offer cross-border QR payment experiences while leveraging existing domestic payment infrastructure.
The partnership with COOCON is expected to support future opportunities for broader regional QR payment connectivity as both organisations continue to expand their respective networks across Asia.
