Role Overview
The VP / Director, Growth & Activation leads Liquid Group's commercial growth strategy by driving strategic partnerships, ecosystem participation, merchant adoption, and transaction growth across Singapore.
The role is responsible for developing and expanding relationships with issuers, acquirers, merchants, payment partners, and ecosystem stakeholders, translating commercial opportunities into measurable business outcomes through partnership development, market activation, go-to-market execution, and growth initiatives.
As the functional leader, the VP / Director provides strategic direction across partnership management, growth marketing, ecosystem activation, and commercial execution while building scalable programmes that accelerate adoption, increase transaction volumes, and strengthen Liquid Group's market presence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute the overall Growth & Activation strategy aligned with Singapore business objectives.
- Define annual commercial growth plans, activation priorities and market expansion initiatives.
- Drive ecosystem participation, adoption and transaction growth across Liquid's payment network.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure commercial success.
2. Strategic Partnerships
- Develop and manage executive relationships with issuers, acquirers, payment partners, financial institutions and strategic ecosystem partners.
- Identify and secure new partnership opportunities that expand payment acceptance, network participation and transaction flows.
- Lead commercial negotiations, partnership discussions and strategic collaboration initiatives.
- Represent Liquid Group in executive-level engagements with key partners and industry stakeholders.
3. Growth & Activation Leadership
- Develop strategies that increase merchant participation, partner engagement, customer adoption and transaction usage.
- Oversee market activation initiatives, promotional programmes and partner campaigns that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Ensure successful go-to-market execution for new product launches, strategic initiatives and ecosystem programmes.
- Drive partner activation plans that maximise participation across the payment ecosystem.
4. Marketing & Go-to-Market Leadership
- Provide strategic direction for integrated marketing, partner campaigns and ecosystem engagement initiatives.
- Oversee co-marketing programmes with strategic partners and industry stakeholders.
- Guide brand positioning, campaign priorities and market communications in collaboration with internal marketing resources and external agencies.
- Ensure all campaigns align with commercial objectives and deliver measurable return on investment.
5. Commercial Performance & Market Intelligence
- Monitor commercial performance across partnerships, activation initiatives and ecosystem participation.
- Analyse market trends, competitive developments and emerging payment opportunities.
- Develop strategies to improve transaction growth, partner engagement and market penetration.
- Present commercial performance updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
6. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop the Growth & Activation team.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs and development plans for direct reports.
- Foster a high-performance, commercially driven and collaborative team culture.
- Build organisational capabilities to support future business growth.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Product, Merchant Acquiring, Customer Operations, Technology, Compliance and Finance teams to ensure successful execution of commercial initiatives.
- Align commercial priorities with product roadmaps, operational readiness and customer experience objectives.
- Champion collaboration across internal functions to accelerate growth and execution excellence.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- MBA or postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial services or related industries.
- Proven experience leading commercial growth, strategic partnerships or business development functions.
- Strong track record of developing and managing executive-level partnerships.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
- Experience in digital payments, payment ecosystems, merchant acquiring or financial technology is highly preferred.
